There’s a good report on the BBC site about a new cinema ad run by Amnesty highlighting the shocking levels of gun running and just how easy it is to obtain weapons.

There’s also a dedicated website for the Control Arms Organisation where you can get informed and start to do something – like add yourself to the million faces campaign.

How many Rwanda’s can we stand by and watch? I mean, the planets not so big that we can really get away with ignoring stuff just because it’s not happening under our noses. We have it so easy in our democracy and it’s our responsibility to nail the government on issues like this; after all, we voted them in.

Alternatively we could nip down Pizza Hut with our friends while children, women and men are tortured, raped and murdered in other countries. But it’s ok, the’re far away enough so the screams won’t put us off the garlic bread.
