Boot-Camp

Apple today released Boot Camp, a beta preview of a new feature coming in OS X Leopard later this year to allow Mac’s to dual boot with Windows.

Well I have to say I’m pretty surprised by this. I’m sure it’ll be just fine but it seems really weird to have Apple releasing offical software to assist with running Windows on a Mac.

I’d love to have been a fly on the wall and overheard the arguments for and against. I would imagine it could have been pretty heated in 1 Infinte Loop, after all it assists putting a rival OS on Mac hardware.

So what are Apple saying with this…

1. We know our hardware is best but the OS wars are effectively over.
2. We know people still have to run Windows (spit) so we’re just helping them out.
3. This is the ultimate switch campaign – buy a Mac, you’ve nothing to lose now.

Personnally I’d go for no.3 but what do I know. Genuis, or thin end of the wedge?
